The Great Rebundling: Why AI is Setting You Free

I love how every time a new model drops, everyone on twitter loses their shit. It's an understandable reaction tbh. You're sitting there watching GitHub Copilot complete entire functions. ChatGPT is explaining  complex algorithms better than your college professors ever did. Every week brings news of  another AI breakthrough, another task that used to require human expertise now automated.  The existential dread is creeping in. You're wondering if all those hours mastering your craft, all that hard-won knowledge, is about to become worthless.

Let me tell you why this fear, while natural, is pointing you toward an extraordinary liberation.

Remember when you wanted to be everything? That childhood version of you who drew spacecraft designs in notebooks, wrote stories about distant worlds, calculated orbital mechanics for  fun, and dreamed of being an astronaut-artist-scientist-explorer. You didn't see any contradiction in wanting it all. Then the world taught you to specialize, to pick a lane,  to become a cog in the great industrial machine. You were told there is one and only one path to material security, which for the overwhelming majority of us Indians, was the main goal of our parents.

But something extraordinary is happening: you're being set free.

As artificial intelligence takes over the mechanical aspects of software development - the repetitive coding, the routine debugging, the standard implementations - it's not replacing  you. It's liberating you from the constraints of specialization that the industrial age forced upon us. Just as the printing press freed Renaissance scholars from the drudgery of hand-copying books and set in motion one of the great periods of creativity and invention in history, AI is freeing you to become whole again.

Every technological paradigm shift points to a higher level of abstraction. Resistance is futile. The shift, once set in motion, is inexorable. It's truth cannot be denied because it is the Universe unfolding. Kudrat ki rit.

Consider Francesco Datini, a 14th-century orphan who rose to become one of the most successful merchants of the Renaissance. His genius wasn't in mastering any single skill,  but in seeing the patterns that connected everything - commerce, mathematics, human psychology, and information flow. He built systems that worked because they aligned with what ancient philosophers called *rit* - the natural order of things. His archives of 150,000 letters and 500 ledgers weren't just records - they were a living map of how value and information naturally flow through human systems.

This is what AI is offering us - not obsolescence, but the chance to rise above narrow specialization. Those seemingly disconnected interests of yours? They're not distractions. They're the source of your strength in this new era. Your love of poetry can inform system architecture. Your art hobby can improve your interface design. Your fascination with history can help you see patterns in data flows.

The industrial age deconstructed us, split us into specialized parts. AI is enabling the great rebundling of the human being. The most valuable skills now aren't the ones that AI  can replicate - they're the uniquely human abilities to connect disparate domains, to see the whole picture, to work with the grain of reality rather than against it. And I know this because I am that Renaissance Man and I am excited.

I'm not being replaced. I'm being promoted from component operator to system designer, from code writer to pattern recognizer, from specialist to synthesist. The tools are handling the splitting; I get to do the connecting. And so do you. This is what your childhood self understood intuitively - that everything is connected, that the boundaries between disciplines are artificial, that the most interesting things happen at the intersections. That kid wasn't naive. That kid was right.

If anything's days are numbered, it is the days of *grind-maxxing* and leet code mental gymnastics. No, to thrive in the new world you will need to be able to synthesize. Of course, for this you will need some level of grounding in the hard disciplines but it is becoming increasingly more valuable to develop a holistic philosophy, to get closer to reality, unsheltered by the layers and layers of institutions, corporations and society that have built up over the old paradigms.

A paradigm shift is a wonderful opportunity. If you're young, swallow your fears and learn to see the world without the conditioning imposed on you. I know it's a tough ask but it is critical.
The world doesn't need more specialists. It has AI for that now. What it needs are complete humans who can see the whole picture, who can feel the *rit* of systems and guide them toward harmony. Your diverse interests, your breadth of curiosity, your ability to play across boundaries - these aren't liabilities. They're superpowers.

And the one thing that has remained true through the millenia is the unending, limitless bounty of creation and the unending, infinite nature of human needs and wants and desires. To salve their suffering, humans have invented elaborate structures - markets and governments and armies and churches - but they are all very logical to one who can see the underlying patterns. And I can tell you - there will always be jobs. And there will be one for you.

This is your moment to rebundle yourself. To become, finally, all that you wanted to be. Read. Read fiction. Watch cinema. Feel what humans feel. Study psychology. Learn a musical instrument. Read poetry. Study architecture and design. You will see why the world is how it is and the patterns that govern it. And you will see what it needs. And you will be able to build it. Forget about worrying about your job. You should be excited to build a whole new world.

Which brings us quite nicely to my two new clients - both of which are serving creators.

Aftershoot is a wild story out of Delhi. Started in 2020 by Harshit Dwivedi, Aftershoot builds tools for professional photographers to cull and touch up their shots. They're growing like crazy, have healthy revenues and have just raised a big Series A. Well funded, solving interesting problems and looking for a strong, performance focussed React developer to work on their app. It's an Electron app, so something new for y'all.

My newest client is very dear to my heart. Invideo.io is easily one of India's most kick ass product companies. Their revenue per developer is a testament to their operational excellence, product acumen and business savvy. I've known the CTPO Anshul for over a decade now. If you get a chance to work with him, do not pass it up. They're building in Rust and Elixir, so this is a very rare job indeed, and just the excuse you needed to move to Mumbai, the urbs primis Indis.

And now on to the full list of jobs.

And yes, if you found this useful, feel free to share with your friends. I am always looking for excellent candidates.
