Role Overview
We're seeking a Swift Engineer to join our fast-paced team to design, develop, and implement new features for Little Bird, our personalized AI teammate for Mac and iOS. This position reports directly to the technical leadership team and will play a crucial role in architecting and building our Desktop app.
Our team is well-funded >$4m, small and growing - this is a great time to join and contribute to foundational aspects of our growth! Gen OS is remote-first; we speak a few languages, love to collaborate, and like to build things that we enjoy using. Our co-founders have experience building data, consumer hardware, and interactive products, including selling a previous venture for >$250m.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on software development experience with at least a few years focus on Swift or Objective-C.
- Comfortable handling concurrency, multi-threaded programming, and performance tuning in complex systems.
- Understanding of security concerns with desktop apps
- Extensive experience with profiling tools to figure race conditions, memory leaks, resource consumption.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills(send us your blog, Github etc), we’re a remote team and a lot of our async communication happens in writing(PR reviews, Notion docs, Slack, Linear etc.).
- You care about both product and code quality
- User empathy
- You’re a manager of one
Bonus skills
- Prior startup experience, shipping products 0-1 and/or owning major parts of a production-grade codebase
- Experience leading architectural discussions, discussing tradeoffs, designing integrations and test plans
- Experience with assistive technologies like screen readers, voice recognition software or using accessibility APIs in desktop.
- Proficiency in either/all of - Web Dev, Rust, Python
